MEET JUSTICE

Justice Jaylen is a multifaceted artist whose journey from Charleston, South Carolina, to Los Angeles embodies the intersection of classical training, contemporary innovation, and commercial success. His dedication to dance began at Charleston City Ballet (ages 8-15), where he built a strong foundation in classical technique, before advancing to Charleston Dance Center (ages 15-18), where he emerged as a competitive force in the dance world.

During his formative years at Charleston Dance Center, Justice distinguished himself at the nation's most prestigious dance competitions and conventions, including NYCDA, Jump, 24Seven, Revive, Adrenaline, Starpower, and Hall of Fame. As a student at Charleston County School of the Arts, he discovered his passion for choreography through pivotal projects like Junior Comp and Senior Thesis, while immersing himself in contemporary and modern dance techniques, including Graham, Horton, and Limón.

Justice's exceptional talent earned him recognition from the NYCDA Foundation in 2020, resulting in $300,000 in scholarships to various dance programs across the United States and a full scholarship to the prestigious Ailey Summer Intensive. His dedication to his craft was matched by his work ethic; throughout high school, he balanced a rigorous schedule of AP classes while working part-time at a retirement community to support his dance training.

The summer of 2021 marked a series of extraordinary achievements for Justice. In the same week he claimed a national title with New York City Dance Alliance, he was awarded a $20,000 scholarship from the NYCDA Foundation. These accolades contributed to his impressive total of $1.5 million in scholarship offers from nine universities, including three academic awards in biochemistry, African American studies, and business – a testament to his exceptional intellectual versatility and academic prowess.

At USC's prestigious Kaufman School of Dance, Justice has studied works by renowned choreographers including Jiří Kylián, Kyle Abraham, and Peter Chu. His leadership extends beyond the dance studio as the Dance Chair of USC Black Arts Collective, where he helps foster community and artistic expression among his peers.

While pursuing his education, Justice continued to excel in the competitive dance world, becoming an assistant to some of New York City's most acclaimed choreographers. His weekends were spent traversing the country, contributing to dance conventions and honing his craft. Since signing with Clear Talent Group during his freshman year, he has appeared in campaigns for Louis Vuitton, Nike, Hermès, and JBL, and has collaborated with artists like Flo Milli.

In his artistic journey, Justice has embraced the ballroom scene as a Miyake Mugler vogue femme walker, seamlessly integrating vogue elements into his choreographic style. His natural talent in ballroom culture has quickly earned him recognition on international lists, and he has secured over $5,000 in grand prizes within his first two years of participation. This fusion of classical training, contemporary dance, and ballroom culture creates a unique choreographic voice that sets him apart in the industry.

Justice's decision to extend his time at USC reflects his commitment to deepening his understanding of choreography through the lens of anthropology and underground dance practices, demonstrating his dedication to both the artistic and academic aspects of dance. As a performer, choreographer, and teacher, Justice Jaylen represents a new generation of artists who seamlessly blend classical training with contemporary innovation, commercial success with artistic integrity, and technical excellence with cultural awareness. His diverse achievements in dance, academics, and leadership make him an ideal candidate for any career path he chooses to pursue, while his artistic journey continues to inspire as he pushes the boundaries of dance while maintaining his roots in both classical and contemporary traditions.
